The maths education website, Mathspace.co, has recently had a data breach, so here is some info to add to the database from one of my emails (with my name excluded):
Hi [NAME],

We're writing to tell you about a data breach that happened at Mathspace on 27th August and was discovered on 3rd September. During this incident, an unauthorised party downloaded user account details from Mathspace.

We deeply regret that your personal information may have been impacted, and we have since closed off that access. We sincerely apologise for this. Keeping your information safe is our responsibility, and one we take extremely seriously.

What information was leaked and what steps should I take?

The exposed information included names and email addresses, along with account details. Passwords and other authentication credentials were not involved. There is no urgent action required, however, we still recommend that you:

Check unexpected messages independently. Be cautious even if a message uses your name or refers accurately to your school or this incident. Use contact details obtained separately from an official website.
Do not disclose passwords or verification codes in response to a message. Avoid unexpected attachments and requests to sign in through unfamiliar links.
Use a unique password for each account. Change any passwords you have reused across services.
Watch for unusual account activity. Pay attention to unexpected password-reset emails or changes to your account details.
Report suspicious messages or activity to data-breach-response@mathspace.co.
If you're a student and you're not sure what to do, ask a parent, guardian or teacher to help you with these steps.
